Mother's Day
I come from a predominately female family. Because of this, I've always been a bit of a tomboy growing up. I thought boys were just so cool and calm, the very opposite of an anxious, neurotic, high-strung female like myself. This was an enduring theme throughout most of my life.
On this day that celebrates mothers and females alike, I've realized that as an adult, I find myself gravitating towards females. More so than that, mothers. My mother, for one, my sisters (who are now mothers to beautiful children), my aunts, my cousins, my friends, heck, even my coworkers. All of these women who inspire and challenge me, who encourage and stimulate me... they are all mothers.
Women who've carried children in their bellies, their arms, their hearts. Women who hold the most difficult job in the world, with the littlest possible recognition. Women whose lives are dedicated to making sure that someone else's life is all cushy comfort.
So today, as with all days, from the children the world over to all mothers, I want to say thank you. We all love you very much!
